About Standing-Alone.comStanding Alone was created by me (Nathan Ward) and Chad Dorrell in 2001. When creating this site, Our hope was to reach out to young Christians like ourselves. We remember being the only Christian--or one of very few Christians--in an entire school. Sure, there were plenty that called themselves Christians, but many of them would get drunk every weekend and have sex as soon as it was convenient. We want to young Christians who stand alone in the world of sin-- who honestly desire to please God. Our aim is to let them know there is support in the world. Not everyone is against you. Our original plan was for this to be a print newsletter that could be mailed out across America. Then, we realized that as poor college students, we didn't have the budget necessary to complete such a task, so we thought a website would be the next best option for us. So, here we are, on-line, doing what we can. At Standing-alone.com, we will still tend to shy away from heavy doctrinal issues and/or the controversial issues of the day. Although our subjects are getting meatier as the writers mautre, we will still refrain from those issues. We certainly understand that the discussion of such issues is important and necessary; however, we feel that it is neither beneficial nor practical in such a forum as this website. Young Christians need to be building a solid foundation on which to grow. Young Christians need to be taking in the pure milk of the word. Young Christians don't need to be slapped in the face with issues with which many Christians of decades struggle. We want to help young Christians grow closer to God, not frighten them away from the church. Yes, there is a time and place for those issues to be dealt with. That time is not now. That place is not here. When we began Standing-Alone.com, it was our goal to update the entire site monthly, but still add new articles every week. As "real life" has taken us by storm, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain that goal. We are hoping to update the site monthly. We hope you understand and will continue to visit us on a monthly basis. Speaking of "real life" I was married on July 12, 2002 and Chad was married on January 18, 2003. As our perspective on life changes, this site is subject to change with it. I have noticed, over the first year, that the articles have become steadily more "meaty," which I think is good. Although we are trying to help young Christians become sound in the rudiments of Christianity,it is also our goal to help them grow spiritually in whatever way we can. Finally, it has been our experience that the greatest learning is done while teaching. Because of this, we are opening Standing Alone up to anyone who would like to be a writer for Standing-alone.com. Thanks for visiting us today. Feel free to let us know what you think of our site, and please tell a friend about us. Nathan WardEditor |
