The Man of Galilee

by Atticus G. Haygood

You've probably never heard of this little book before. That's because it was written in 1889 and is now out of print. It's probably a little bit harder to find a copy of than Independent Bible Study, but if you can track this down, get a copy!

In this book, Haygood seeks to prove that Jesus existed and that he was deity without ever turning to the bible as proof. Don't get me wrong, he does go to the bible; but he does not do so with the method: "The bibe says Jesus is deity, therefore He is." Rather, he lets the bible speak and then lays the rest on your sense of reason to come to the only rational conclusion.

The Man of Galilee is a small book with short chapters, but I'd advise you not tackle it all at once. The nature of his arguments are such that you'll probably want to just let each chapter soak in for about a week while you think about it before you move on to the next.

Again, this one may be a little hard to track down; but if you can somehow find a copy of it, get it and keep it. It will be worth whatever investment you put into it. In the meantime, you can read the text of this book here.
