The Gospel According to Jesus

by John F. MacArthur, Jr.

In The Gospel According to Jesus, MacArthur (a Calvinist) attacks the concept that salvation comes by "Just saying that you believe." Although he does not abandon the doctrine of “Faith Only,” he thoroughly shows the necessity of obedience and humbling oneself before the Lordship of Jesus Christ, with great insights on the interaction of faith and works.

Although this is an author with whom I disagree on some major doctrinal points, this book is mostly sound and certainly worth the read. It would be a welcome addition to any Bible student’s bookshelf and will give you lots of ammunition to fight against the “Easy Believe-ism” taught by so many in the religious world today.
